Roma Foto Projekt

The Roma Foto Projekt is a contemporary photo essay depicting the daily lives of the Roma (Gypsies) of Slovakia. In 2002 and 2003 photographers Matt Kollasch and Sandy Carter had uncommon access to Roma settlements in eastern Slovakia. The RFP tells a compelling story of modern Slovakia, and Europe at large, as former Soviet block countries begin integration into the European Union. Issues of race, tradition, immigration, fear and justice permeate this discussion.
